Right now we're at 50 beautiful, amazing subscribers, so we only have 950 to go! WE GOT THIS!* **Trigger warning:* topics in this episode include rape, sexual violence, gender-based violence, and Black lynchings.* **Kendall Francis’s account of being raped by an LSU football player,** Jane Doe’s lawsuit against Cornell for failing to hold the Cornell rapists accountable, and Nolan Wells’ murder—and the ongoing fight for justice for him and his family—are all connected. White supremacist patriarchy seeks to normalize this violence and sweep it under the rug, but we refuse to be quiet. None of this is okay and none of this is normal. **In this episode, I speak with Nicole Snell of Girls Fight Back** about the systemic roots of violence. Nicole’s prolific work in empowerment-based self-defense emphasizes that survivors are never at fault for the violence we experience. **Through her events, workshops, courses, and trainings,** she teaches us to develop and wield our intuition, boundaries, and agency as sacred weapons to protect ourselves and our communities. **We discuss the need for systemic change,** debunk rape myths, and explore ways to sharpen our intuition and strengthen our boundaries. We also examine how trauma responses like freeze and fawn affect our behavior, alongside the importance of bystander intervention and collective responsibility. **Connect with Nicole:** - [Nicole Snell’s website](https://www.nicolesnell.com/?ref=terraincognitamedia.com) - [Sign up for a 1:1 session ](https://ko-fi.com/nicolesnell/commissions?ref=terraincognitamedia.com)with Nicole - [Nicole Snell](https://www.instagram.com/adventuresofnik/?ref=terraincognitamedia.com) and Girls Fight Back [Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/girlsfightback/?ref=terraincognitamedia.com), Tik Tok, [Youtube](https://www.youtube.com/@Nicole%5FSnell?ref=terraincognitamedia.com) - Nicole Snell's [Ted Ex Talk](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=%5FUETjFX0ErU&ref=terraincognitamedia.com) - [Girls Fight Back merch](https://www.nicolesnell.com/shop?ref=terraincognitamedia.com) - [Yes I’m Hiking Solo: Self-Defense for the Outdoors program](https://4efe-nicole.systeme.io/1d7d04c6?ref=terraincognitamedia.com) **Connect with *Terra Incognita Media*:** [*Terra Incognita Media* website](https://www.terraincognitamedia.com/) [*Terra Incognita Media* instagram](https://www.instagram.com/terraincognitamedia/?ref=terraincognitamedia.com) [Grab your FREE Guide to Toxic Masculinity in the Outdoor Industry](https://www.terraincognitamedia.com/guide/) **Resources Mentioned:** - [Jane Doe and Kendall Francis Go Fund Me](https://www.gofundme.com/f/supportSAsurvivors?ref=terraincognitamedia.com) - [Kat Blaque’s video](https://www.instagram.com/p/DeAv3oiiZIR/?ref=terraincognitamedia.com) about rape culture - [Military Sexual Trauma](https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC8884252/?ref=terraincognitamedia.com) paper - [On fraternities & manliness](https://schoolleadership20.com/profiles/blogs/on-fraternities-manliness-by-emily-esfahani-smith?ref=terraincognitamedia.com) by Emily Esfahani Smith - [Channel 9 interview](https://www.wafb.com/2026/09/24/exclusive-lsu-student-says-university-failed-her-after-title-ix-finding-alleged-sexual-assault/?ref=terraincognitamedia.com) with Kendall Francis - The Black Information Network’s [report on Kendall Francis](https://seattle.binnews.com/content/2026-09-25-lsu-student-speaks-out-after-rape-finding-didnt-trigger-criminal-investigation/?ref=terraincognitamedia.com) - [@the.vtech\_villain](https://www.tiktok.com/@the.vtech%5Fvillain/video/7691073191585811726?ref=terraincognitamedia.com) on Tik Tok video about the Cornell Rapists - [The Daily Sun reporting](https://www.cornellsun.com/article/2026/09/tccsuykuvb4z?ref=terraincognitamedia.com) on Jane Doe’s lawsuit - [“Cornell Won’t, We Will”](https://www.cornellsun.com/article/2026/09/editorial-cornell-won-t-we-will?ref=terraincognitamedia.com) editorial by The Daily Sun - [Kathy Hochul and Leticia James](https://www.c-span.org/program/news-conference/ny-gov-kathy-hochul-ag-letitia-james-hold-press-conference-on-cornell-sexual-assault-investigation/686008?ref=terraincognitamedia.com) Press Conference about the Cornell Rapists - [Autopsy Found No Water in Nolan Wells’ Lungs](https://www.atlantanewsfirst.com/2026/09/24/nolan-wells-autopsy-found-no-water-lungs-data-was-deleted-his-phone-day-he-disappeared-officials-say/?ref=terraincognitamedia.com) \- Atlanta News First - [Sinisterhood podcast series](https://www.sinisterhood.com/shownotes/ep409-nolan-wells-pt-1?ref=terraincognitamedia.com) about Nolan Wells - [Instagram video](https://www.instagram.com/p/DeHXCD8xpqB/?ref=terraincognitamedia.com) with instructions on how to demand justice for Nolan Wells - [PROBr instructions](https://probr.co/what-to-do-nolan-wells?ref=terraincognitamedia.com) on how to demand justice for Nolan Wells - [Nasty Work](https://bookshop.org/p/books/nasty-work-resist-systems-explore-desire-and-liberate-yourself-ericka-hart/475fe59c2e45d870?ref=terraincognitamedia.com) by Ericka Hart - [The Four Violence Prevention Truths](https://www.nicolesnell.com/post/4-violence-prevention-truths?ref=terraincognitamedia.com) by Nicole Snell - [Stop Signs](https://www.hachettebookgroup.com/titles/lynn-fairweather/stop-signs/9781580053877/?lens=seal-press&ref=terraincognitamedia.com) by Lynn Fairweather - [Hand Model of the Brain](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qFTljLo1bK8&ref=terraincognitamedia.com) by Dr. Dan Siegel - [How Trauma and PTSD Impact the Brain](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wdUR69J2u6c&ref=terraincognitamedia.com) - [Trauma on the Brain: The Neurobiological Effects of PTSD](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-BThqIwhqxA&ref=terraincognitamedia.com), Daisy Payton - [Rape Culture Pyramid](https://www.communitysolutionsva.org/files/Rape%5FCulture%5FPyramid%5Fdiscussion%5Fguide.pdf?ref=terraincognitamedia.com)
