Intersectionality in the Outdoor Industry
Terra Incognita is hosting a three part workshop series called "Intersectionality in the Outdoors" so that people can explore topics centering on inclusion and equity in the Outdoor Industry.
Together we can explore the implications associated with these components in ways that many may not have a chance to address in daily life. What is the primary thing keeping us from having these important conversations? Often it’s our lack of experience which can be uncomfortable for some of us. But just like with climbing, running, mountain biking, growth requires stepping outside of our comfort zones. Terra Incognita provides the space, structure, and support to encourage this growth! Participants are invited to express themselves, explore, listen, absorb, and learn. We are all in this together.
Goal: Build inclusive “play, work, thrive” environment.
Topics: Building shared language: intersectionality, patriarchy, white supremacy, heteronormativity, microaggressions, inclusivity, exclusivity, segregation, integration, paternalism, safety, consent
Time: 2.5 hours
Become familiar with language that helps us navigate issues in the workplace and our lives when they arise
Deepen our connection in community through providing tools and shared language
Build capacity for healthy relationships, and confidence in communication
